Wear Goggles

Wearing goggles can seem strange when you first start swimming, but they can help you be a better swimmer. The goggles help to keep water out of your eyes, which allows you a view of the water as you are swimming. Being able to see can help you avoid panicking while swimming.

The goggles can fog up as you swim. While swimming the air temperature inside of your goggles will rise due to your body heat rising as you swim. The rise in temperature causes humidity to increase, which causes fog when the goggles meet the cold water.

Use Your Whole Body

It might be challenging, but you need to focus on using your whole body and not just your upper body. For instance, instead of relying on your upper body to help propel your body forward, use your legs. Your legs will provide the momentum needed to keep your body moving forward.

Wear Fins

Swimming flippers, or fins, can be helpful while you are learning to swim. The fins are smaller than scuba diving flippers and can provide you with the extra boost that is needed to keep your body moving forward.

You do not have to wear the fins all the time. They should only be used while doing certain exercises. For instance, you can wear the fins while warming up for your swimming practice. Once you become more skilled, you can ditch the fins, if desired.
